Under the direction of the Nurse Manager or Executive DON, Ambulatory, an Advanced Clinical Nurse provides professional skilled age-specific nursing care for patients in collaboration with physicians and other disciplines. Performs all aspects of patient care, including but not limited to patient assessment, medication administration, identifying nursing problems, and care plans. Provides or delegates care according to Valleywise Health policies, functions as a client advocate and educator, completes and processes all required documentation, indirectly supervises ancillary personnel as directed, and participates in team building and quality improvement activities. The position demonstrates the professional skills and behaviors to promote comprehensive, cost-effective, and meaningful healthcare for consumers in a diverse healthcare environment. In addition, an Advanced Clinical Nurse promotes and demonstrates advancement in professional practice through additional activities such as quality improvement and leadership.
 
Hourly Pay Rate: $34.15 - $50.37
 
Qualifications
Education:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing.
Experience:
  • Must have at least one (1) year of recent acute care hospital RN experience that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, or if completed the New Grad RN program at Valleywise Health, then must have at least one year of Valleywise Health experience as an RN and be in good standing.
Certification/Licensure:
  • Must possess a current, valid AZ RN license; temporary AZ RN license; or valid compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
  • Must be in good standing with the issuing Board of Nursing.
  • Requires a BLS card obtained through American Heart Association (AHA) training center upon hire.
  • CPI certification and BLS Card training will be provided upon hire/transfer to BH departments.
  • In addition, certification or continuing education may be required based on the area of practice:
    • Ambulatory Clinics: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • Angio Suite: Must obtain ACLS and PALS within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
    • Antepartum Testing Center: Requires Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification upon hire. Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • APCU: ACLS certification is required upon hire or transfer.
    • BH Unit 2 Adolescent: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • Burn Med Surg Adult: BLS and ACLS are required upon hire. PALS is required within six (6) months of hire. ABLS is required within one (1) year of hire.
    • Burn Med Surg Peds: BLS and ACLS are required upon hire. PALS is required within six (6) months of hire. ABLS is required within one (1) year of hire.
    • Burn Center ICU: BLS and ACLS are required upon hire. PALS is required within six (6) months of hire. ABLS is required within one (1) year of hire.
    • Burn Clinic: BLS and ACLS are required upon hire. PALS is required within six (6) months of hire. ABLS is required within one (1) year of hire.
    • Burn Unit Emergency: BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required upon hire. ABLS is required within one (1) year of hire.
    • Cath Lab: Must have BLS and ACLS certification at the time of hire or transfer.
    • Dialysis: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • ED Roosevelt: Requires ACLS and PALS required upon hire. ATCN or TNCC certification must be obtained within 12 months. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification is preferred.
    • ED Maryvale: Requires ACLS and PALS certification upon hire.
    • ENDO: ACLS and PALS are required within six (6) months of hire or transfer. Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) certification is preferred.
    • FQHC Primary Care: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • IRP: Must obtain ACLS certification upon Hire or Transfer. Additional certifications may be required to work in specialty areas.
    • Labor and Delivery: ACLS and NRP are required within six (6) months of hire or transfer. If less than two (2) years of RN Labor and Delivery experience, the candidate must complete AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring class within six (6) months and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring class within two (2) years. If greater than two (2) years of RN Labor and Delivery experience, will need to complete AWHONN advanced fetal monitoring within one (1) year. Advanced Fetal Monitoring must be maintained every two (2) years through an approved course.
    • McDowell Clinic: HIV certification is required within six (6) months. Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • Medical: ONS (Chemotherapy Biotherapy Card) within 12 months of hire or transfer. Must obtain ACLS certification upon Hire or Transfer.
    • Medicine Specialty Clinic: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • MICU: BLS and ACLS are required upon hire or transfer.
    • Nephrology: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • NICU: NRP required within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
    • Nursing Float Pool: Must obtain ACLS certification upon hire or transfer. Additional certifications may be required to work in specialty areas.
    • Oncology Clinic: Chemo Certification is required within six (6) months.
    • OR (other than Peoria): CNOR certification is preferred.
    • OR (Peoria): Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • Peds Acute: PALS and NRP must be obtained within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
    • PICU: PALS upon hire or transfer and NRP within six months or ATCN/TCAR/TNCC within 12 months.
    • Post Partum: NRP is required within six (6) months of hire or transfer. Intermediate Fetal Monitoring is preferred.
    • PreOp: Must obtain ACLS and PALS within six (6) months, and ATCN or TNCC certification must be obtained within 12 months.
    • PreOp/PACU (Other than Peoria): Must obtain ACLS and PALS within six (6) months. ATCN or TNCC Certification must be obtained within 12 months.
    • PreOp/PACU (Peoria): Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
    • SICU: BLS and ACLS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain ATCN, TNCC, or TCAR within 12 months.
    • Surgical: Must obtain ACLS certification upon hire or transfer.
    • Surgical Specialty Clinic: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse people is a must. 
  • Bilingual is preferred. 
  • Must have excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills. 
  • Requires basic computer word processing skills (e.g., formatting, editing, printing, composing email, internet searches, etc.) to navigate through an electronic medical record using a computer successfully. 
  • Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
