Job Summary:
As a key member of our facilities team, the Building Engineer supports the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of hospital infrastructure. Under the guidance of the Power Plant Supervisor, this role is responsible for performing a broad range of technical duties related to the repair, maintenance, and operation of building systems, ensuring optimal performance and regulatory compliance. This includes hands-on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work, as well as maintaining accurate documentation and records.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine and emergency maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems across hospital facilities.

Operate and monitor power plant equipment to ensure uninterrupted utility services.

Conduct inspections and troubleshoot building systems to identify inefficiencies, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions.

Collaborate with contractors, technicians, and internal departments to coordinate repairs and upgrades.

Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including documentation of inspections, work orders, and system logs.

Contribute to energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability goals through system optimization and preventive maintenance.

Respond promptly to service requests and emergencies to ensure a safe, comfortable, and attractive environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Hourly Pay Rate: $25.96 - $38.29
Job Qualifications
Education:
-
High school diploma or GED required.
Specialized Training:
-
Must have a certification for refrigerant recovery (EPA Universal Certification)
Certification/licensure:
-
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-
Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
-
Must have a creativity, initiative and independent thinking, and problem-solving skills are strongly preferred.

Must have working knowledge of fire protection codes, plumbing and other building systems codes, OSHA requirements, and knowledge of safe working techniques and procedures.

Must have working knowledge preventative maintenance and work order software systems.

Great customer service and communication skills.

Must have willingness and aptitudes to work effectively with others within the formal or informal structure of teams or groups.
