Department: Trauma Services - Roosevelt

Schedule: Regular FT 40 Hours Per Week

Shifts: Days

 

Under the general direction of the VP Acute & Emergency Services and the Trauma Services Medical Director this position is responsible for overseeing trauma care quality and efficient coordination of care from pre-hospital to rehabilitation/Trauma Clinic. This position provides clinical management, leadership, coordination, and operational direction for areas of responsibility. This position serves as the tactical point person for all of trauma services related to patient care, staff development, physician relationships, quality initiatives, program development, and system-wide success. This position assures evidence-based patient care by creating an environment that encourages the use of research in practice. Supervises employees and participates in selection, orientation, counseling, evaluation, and staff scheduling. This position requires knowledge and skill in professional nursing theory and practice, trauma care and trauma systems, principles of teaching and learning, and quality assurance. This position will also prepare and maintain the hospital for ACS verification and Arizona State designation as a Level 1 Trauma Center.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education or equivalency:

  • Requires a Master’s degree in Nursing; or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a Master’s degree in related field or must obtain a Master’s degree within four (4) years from start date in job.

Experience:

  • Must have at least five (5) years of clinical experience relevant to Trauma Nursing with at least two (2) years of progressively
  • responsible demonstrated leadership experience that demonstrates a high level of understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Experience must include demonstrated leadership ability in a Trauma Program Manager role.

Specialized training:

  • Within one (1) year of hire or next available class must complete the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine
  • AAAM/AIS scoring class.
  • An Advanced Trauma Course (ATCN, TNCC, FNATC, or TNS) is strongly required (either student or instructor).
  • Trauma Program Manager class if not previously completed.
  • TOPIC course if not previously completed.
  • Lean Six Sigma Training preferred.       

Certification/licensure:

  • Must possess a current, valid Arizona RN license and be in good standing with the AZ Board of Nursing.
  • Must have BLS and PALS or ENPC; and TNCC, ATCN or TCAR. Student or instructor card is acceptable.
  • Requires demonstrated experience in facilitating and implementing a strategic planning process with specific outcomes.
  • Must have previously demonstrated experience in leading a successful change process with a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians and healthcare providers; and demonstrated knowledge of managing and meeting budget outcomes.
  • Must be a successful leader of people, have strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team.
  • Must be able to decide how to allocate people, time and other resource to create, execute, and accomplish an operating or project plan on time and within budget
  • Must have solid analytical and problem-solving skills along with the ability to utilize the appropriate management techniques to plan, organize, control and coordinate activities.
  • Must be able to manage priorities in a dynamic environment and adapt to change quickly and positively.
  • Must demonstrate ability to be self-directed, as well as demonstrate excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work as a team member with peers, other managers, staff and senior leadership.
  • Must possess good customer service and communications skills, the ability to work with professionals and maintain confidentiality standards.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to be self-directed.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance/risk management programs and patient and staff education preferred.
  • Pediatric and some Obstetric care knowledge preferred.
  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in writing including knowledge of basic grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
  • Requires computer literacy in Microsoft Applications.
  • Knowledge of Electronic medical record and Trauma registry required.
