Department: Disaster Preparedness

Schedule: Regular FT 40 Hours Per Week

Shifts: Days

Under the direction of the Manager of Emergency Preparedness, this position is responsible for assisting with the overall planning, development, and delivery of health system response training and exercise activities necessary to ensure a rapid, coordinated, efficient, and effective response by the organization and partner agencies in the event of an emergency or disaster.
 
Annual Salary Rate: $60,736 - $89,585.60
 
Qualifications
Education
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Emergency/Disaster Management or a related field or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work.
Experience
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of development and/or delivery of disaster-related training experience that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 
Specialized Training:
  • Must be able to obtain a certificate of completion within one year for the following FEMA independent study program courses:
    • IS-100, IS-120.a, IS-130, IS-139, IS-200, IS-265 IS-700, and IS-800.
  • Must obtain a certificate of completion within one year for Hospital Emergency Response training and/or Standardized Awareness Authorized training.
  • Prefer the above plus certificate of completion for HERT Train-the-Trainer and HSEEP methodology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must demonstrate a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and ability to conceptualize and organize complex and detailed information into easy-to-follow formats and useable tools; ability to explain complex or challenging concepts clearly to others.
  • Requires the ability to facilitate meetings to achieve needed outcomes, motivate people and teams, and develop staff.
  • Must have the ability to organize, coordinate and develop training programs and tactical exercises and drills.
  • Requires prior planning and training experience, and computer skills, especially with presentation, database, and word processing software.
  • Must exhibit behaviors and actions to maintain the hospital's credibility, integrity, and positive image.
  • Requires prior working knowledge of principles and practices of public/government organizations, principles and practices of local emergency management.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the health effects, personal protection, and mitigation of exposures to weapons of mass destruction, including chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE), and workplace safety and health.
  • Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
