Facility: Valleywise Health Medical Center

Department: Trauma Services - Roosevelt

Schedule: Regular FT 40 Hours Per Week

Shifts: Days

Under the general direction of the Trauma Program Director, this position supports the Geriatric Surgery Director by maintaining programmatic organization, mediating channels of interdisciplinary communication, and overseeing institutional preparation for American College of Surgeons (ACS) Geriatric Surgery Verification (GSV) site visits.  This position will prepare and maintain documentation required for the ACS GSV. This position will coordinate and provides geriatric surgery education to hospital staff, EMS personnel and the communities Valleywise serves.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education or equivalency:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Nursing or higher

Experience: 

  • Clinical experience with geriatric surgical care preferred
  • Must have three (3) years recent clinical experience in surgical care
  • Active in leading quality improvement activities for geriatric surgical population

Specialized training: 

  • Prefer Lean / Six Sigma training or to obtain Green Belt within 12 months of hire

Certification/licensure:

  • Must possess a current, valid AZ RN license; temporary AZ RN license; or valid compact RN licensure for current state of practice
  • Must also be in good standing with the issuing Board of Nursing
  • Requires current certification in ACLS/BLS

  • Advanced interpersonal skills to develop effective teams and manage/direct/coordinate team activities
  • Ability to influence and motivate collaborators
  • This position requires knowledge and skill in professional nursing practice, surgical care, principles of teaching and learning, and quality assurance
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to be self-directed, and communication skills both verbal and written including knowledge of basic grammar, spelling & punctuation
  • Familiarity with quality assurance/risk management programs and patient and staff education preferred
  • Requires computer literacy in Microsoft Applications and the electronic medical record 
  • Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English

 

 



Salary Range: (36B) $34.15 - $50.37
