Schedule: Regular FT 40 Hours Per Week

At Valleywise Health, our Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are essential members of the behavioral health care team-bringing skill, compassion, and stability to those facing mental health challenges. Working under the direction of a Nurse Manager or designee, and in close collaboration with Registered Nurses and an interdisciplinary team, you’ll help provide safe, structured, and person-centered care in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
What You’ll Do:
  • Deliver age-appropriate, hands-on nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in behavioral health units
  • Assist in monitoring patient status, reporting observations, and supporting treatment interventions as directed by the RN
  • Perform clinical and technical duties, including administering medications, taking vital signs, documenting care, and supporting daily activities
  • Provide a calming, therapeutic presence, ensuring a safe and respectful environment that promotes patient dignity and recovery
  • Support crisis management and de-escalation efforts in coordination with nursing and behavioral health staff
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with hospital policies and behavioral health protocols
  • Participate in patient care planning and team discussions, offering input on patient progress and needs
  • Assist with secretarial and coordination tasks to ensure smooth unit operations, including answering phones, processing orders, and managing supplies

Hourly Pay Rate: $22.19 - $32.73
 
Qualifications
Education:
  • Requires graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse training program.
Experience:
  • Prefer at least one (1) year of nursing-related experience in an inpatient behavioral health setting.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Pursuant to Arizona Administrative Code R9-10-306 CHAPTER 10 of the Dept. of Health Services, personnel must be at least 21 years of age, or at least 18 years of age and licensed or certified under A.R.S. Title 32 and providing services within the personnel member’s scope of practice.
Specialized Training:
  • Must have crisis prevention and intervention training.
Certification/Licensure:
  • Requires valid licensure as a Practical Nurse, which is issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
  • Requires a BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center within three months.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
  • Requires excellent communication and time management skills.
