Department: BH Forensic Act - Maryvale

Schedule: Regular FT 40 Hours Per Week

Shifts: Varied

Under the direction of the ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) Clinical Coordinator, the ACT Licensed Substance Abuse Specialist provides substance abuse expertise and guidance to the ACT team. Provides, recommends and coordinates all services to members for co-occurring substance use and abuse issues. Works collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team setting to develop individual service plans (ISPs) for each ACT Team member and to provide or coordinate all services identified. Participates in after hour on-call 24/7/365 coverage rotation.  This position is committed to meeting the member where they are and providing services in the community, at place of employment, and home as appropriate.

 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, or other behavioral health-oriented field; or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work. A Master's degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Requires a minimum of one (1) year working experience working with individuals with serious mental illness that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Previous experience working with an ACT team or substance abuse treatment is preferred and may substitute for required experience.

Specialized Training:

  • None

Certification/Licensure:

  • Must be licensed as a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC) or Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor (LSAC) or have a social work, counseling, or marriage & family therapy license issued by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.
  • Requires possession of, and ability to retain, a current valid AZ issued driver's license in good standing, and must carry the AZ legally required minimum insurance coverage on personal vehicle at all times.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have extensive knowledge of substance use and abuse treatment for individuals with serious mental illness.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of trauma-informed care, the delivery of recovery-oriented services, the promotion of self-management, and the evidence based practice of Integrated Treatment for co-occurring disorders.
  • Requires the ability to have a reliable form of transportation to travel throughout the community with transportation of ACT members as needed.
  • Must have good verbal and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Requires the ability to maintain highly confidential information, including a working knowledge of HIPAA.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and seek supervision appropriately.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age; or at least 18 years of age and licensed as a Nurse, Physician Assistant, or Behavioral Health professional.
  • Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.


Salary Range: Hourly rate: $22.19 - $32.73
