Under the direction of the Director IT Applications, this position will direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for the planning, organization, control, and development of business intelligence, analytics, reporting, data integration and database (DBA) activities.  The position combines managerial responsibilities with a demonstrated technical expertise. The Manager is responsible for appropriate staffing, staff management, performance management and overall scheduling.   Additionally, this role manages the continuing deployment, development, and ongoing support of clinical application software necessary to systems within a large integrated hospital system. The incumbent supervises staff that support present and future software applications and their workflow processes; sets priorities and goals that achieve specified outcomes; provides strong leadership skills that encourage staff growth and motivation; demonstrates the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines; provides measurable customer service, and performs duties within MIHS missions and values.




Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work in lieu of degree.  Requires seven (7) years of progressively responsible database, integration and/or business intelligence experience that demonstrates a strong understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Requires prior direct or indirect supervisory/management experience preferably in a healthcare IT environment.  Epic systems training is preferred.  Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred.  Must have an in-depth and broad range knowledge of Epic applications in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Knowledge of relational and non-relational DBMS engines is required. Must have knowledge of how Epic applications work with networks, desktops and client/server technologies. Must have knowledge of multiple Epic data models and a broad understanding of multiple BI, analytics and reporting tools. Must understand the integration of applications within Epic as well as how Epic applications interface with other clinical and business applications.  Must be a successful leader of people, have strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team.  Must be able to decide how to allocate people, time and other resource to create, execute, and accomplish an operating or project plan on time and within budget.   Must have solid analytical and problem-solving skills along with the ability to utilize the appropriate management techniques to plan, organize, control and coordinate activities.  Must be able to manage priorities in a dynamic environment and adapt to change quickly and positively.  Must demonstrate ability to be self-directed, as well as demonstrate excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.  Must be able to work as a team member with peers, other managers, staff and senior leadership.  Must possess good customer service and communications skills, the ability to work with professionals and maintain confidentiality standards.  Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
