Department: Purchasing

Schedule: Regular FT 40 Hours Per Week

Shifts: Days

Under the direction of the Director Supply Chain, this position is responsible for the planning, organizing and leading a variety of activities in the service of the Purchasing Department and Valleywise Health, including all purchasing activities, contract compliance, vendor relations, travel, seminars, office supply, credit card and forms coordination and administration.  In addition to purchasing activities, this position oversees the management of the duplicating center, copier fleet throughout the healthcare system and related costs. Identifies and analyzes problems, offering solutions and resolutions using good judgment.  Prioritizes tasks and resolves problems in a timely manner.  This position works closely with various levels of the organization to ensure department-related customer service levels meet or exceed customer expectations.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business or other related field; or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work. Extensive work experience may substitute for the Bachelor's degree.

Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years healthcare related purchasing field experience preferably with one to two (1-2) years prior managerial experience.

  • None

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in writing including knowledge of basic grammar, spelling & punctuation.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, time management and critical thinking skills are strongly preferred.
  • Must have the skill sets to use computers and purchasing related software, word processing and spreadsheets as required.
  • Must have the skills to operate other office equipment such as copiers, fax machines and printers, etc.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple projects and complete associated tasks on time and in a manner consistent with the position held.
  • Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
