Reporting to the Sr VP and General Counsel and Legal Project and District Records Manager, you’ll work on complex, high-value legal matters that directly support our mission.
 
In this role, you'll be more than a paralegal-you'll be a strategic partner. From preparing legal documents to managing key projects and discovery requests, your work will help ensure Valleywise Health continues to thrive within legal and regulatory frameworks. You’ll also conduct in-depth legal research, analyze statutes and case law, and support internal investigations with precision and professionalism.
 
Hourly Pay Rate: $27.00 - $39.83
 
Qualifications
Education:
  • Requires an associate’s degree in paralegal studies or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work.
Experience:
  • Must have a minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible legal assistant experience that demonstrates a strong understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Prefer experience in a healthcare environment or in a public agency.
Certification/Licensure:
  • Requires a paralegal certificate or the ability to obtain a certificate within two (2) years of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
  • Legal research skills, including Westlaw.
  • Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills, including knowledge of basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation, capable of communicating verbally and in writing with various audiences, and positively representing the organization to customers, public, government, and other external sources.
  • Requires excellent organizational skills, problem-solving skills, the ability to multitask, work with professionals and the public, and maintain confidentiality standards.
  • Must be able to capture, organize, and analyze information and evaluate the results to choose the best solution.
  • Requires the ability to use a computer in a Windows environment effectively.
  • Requires knowledge of health care and human resources law, employee merit system, EEOC, government law, and administrative procedures.
  • Must know Arizona public records laws, entity responsibilities, and maintenance, operations, management, and custodial obligations for records systems.
  • Familiarity with state and federal health care laws and regulations, e.g. EMTALA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Law, AHCCCS, HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, nursing, medical staff and house staff topics; state and federal employment laws, general governmental practice, legislative practice, state open meeting and public records laws, and conflict of interest laws.
  • Able to assist with internal investigations, legal research and writing, preparation of pleadings, legal memoranda, and briefs.
