Under the direction of the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, the licensed Pharmacy Technician III works in various practice settings such as compounding, medication management including controlled substances, staff training, procurement and USP compliance. Under the direction of the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, the technician III assists pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications. They act as department liaisons, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of pharmaceuticals, and may handle tasks such as completing reports, operating automated dispensing systems, data entry, and providing comprehensive customer service. The specific duties and assignments are determined by the technician’s training and the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor or Director’s requirements.
Hourly Pay Rate: $22.19 - $32.73

Qualifications
Education:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is preferred but not required.
Experience:
- Requires three (3) years of pharmacy experience in a hospital setting that includes two (2) years of experience in associated specialty.
Specialized Training:
- For compounding technician: USP training, chemotherapy and hazardous drug management certificate or on the job training.
- For procurement technician: ASHP certification program or on the job training equivalent.
- For controlled substance technician: ASHP certification program or on the job training equivalent.
- For medication reconciliation technician: ASHP certificate program or on the job training equivalent.
- For 340B compliance technician: Apexus certification or on the job training equivalent.
- For regulatory compliance technician: ASHP or equivalent certification or combination of certificate or on the job training equivalent.
- For pharmacy technician trainer: Advanced certification in USP compounding standards through Critical Point or equivalent or on the job training equivalent.
Certification/Licensure:
- Must possess CPhT certification and be licensed by the AZ State Board of Pharmacy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires knowledge of mathematical calculations and medication terminology.
- Must know computer software, particularly pharmacy system software.
- Requires training in automated dispensing systems, compounding intravenous medications, and sterile preparations.
- Must have advanced understanding of hospital pharmacy drug distribution systems including unit dose, IV additives, and floor stock distribution methods.
- Must have effective written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
