Schedule: Regular FT 40 Hours Per Week

Shifts: Days

Under the general direction of the Patient Registration Manager, this position is responsible for leading comprehensive registration and eligibility functions to maintain an efficient operational workflow for all patients seeking services throughout Valleywise Health. This position works with management and staff members to identify and resolve issues impacting revenue and reimbursement to Valleywise Health. This position oversees the daily operations of specific work units within the Patient Registration Department. The Registration Specialist Sr partners with the Patient Registration Supervisors to provide leadership coverage and presence to the registration and eligibility work units. In addition, this position provides leadership in managing departmental operations and major projects.

Hourly Pay Rate: $18.24 - $26.90
 
Qualifications
Education:
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Prefer an associate degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
  • Must have at least five (5) years of general clerical duties, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Prior healthcare registration, Financial Counseling, and/or scheduling experience are a plus.
Certification/Licensure:
  • Epic certification and HFMA certification are a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple complex projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management skills, mentoring, and leadership skills are required.
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate competency in all aspects of billing/collecting rules and regulations for all payers to direct, plan, schedule and organize work.
  • Must be able to communicate and relate with patients and all hospital staff.
  • Requires the ability to work independently on established policies and procedures within the department.
  • Must have detailed knowledge and understanding of DES/AHCCCS programs and eligibility factors.
  • Requires excellent data entry skills, including 10-key by touch and the ability to type 30 words per minute accurately.
  • Insurance verification and Medicaid eligibility experience are highly desirable.
  • Must be able to demonstrate interviewing and investigative techniques to obtain information that may not be offered.
  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in writing, including knowledge of basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Critical thinking skills are strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the federal and state Fair Debt Collection Regulations.
  • Knowledge of the Collection Department, including commercial, managed care, work comp, and self-pay guidelines.
  • Requires organizational, general math, and training skills.
