Department: Security - Roosevelt

Schedule: Regular FT 40 Hours Per Week

Shifts: Nights

Under the direction of the Security Manager, this position is the frontline leader of officers designated as first responders to emergencies, CODES, and incidents requiring a security response to effectively ensure the safety of staff, visitors, patients and others.  Responsible for overseeing patrols of facilities and grounds are conducted, incidents are investigated including theft, vandalism, assaults, and other criminal activity; and their shift provides routine security for events as designated.  The position includes ensuring adequate staffing of numerous posts throughout the hospitals, behavioral health facilities, and clinics across the Valleywise Health System. Lead Officer for First responders to emergencies, CODES, and incidents requiring security. Security Services lead representative in the absence of Security Manager or Director when they are not on site.
Hourly Rate: $24.00 - $35.40
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education or equivalency:
  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prefer an associates or bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration or Communication.
Experience: 
  • Requires at least three (3) years of experience in a field related to security, detention, or law enforcement for consideration, however, it is highly encouraged to have prior experience as a Security Officer or security position in a healthcare setting.
Specialized training:   
  • Must successfully complete and receive a passing score and maintain certification in all required training to include Defensive Tactics, CPI-Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Firearms, and Taser.
  • Must complete all annual training requirements in Hospitality, Emergency Procedures, Patrolling, Restraints, De-escalation and Use of Force. 
  • Must be current in attendance to Quarterly firearms and tactical training which includes firearms, tactics, defensive tactics, medical skills, active shooter response and other tactical training.
  • Must successfully complete Annual Operational Skills.
  • Must receive a passing score for Security Services designated firearms qualification course.
Certification/licensure:
  • Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license and be in good standing (No Criminal Record).
  • Must have NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certification through CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute).
  • Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety and maintain currency.
  • Must complete all require medical requirements i.e. TB testing, FLU shot, and mask fitting.
  • Must complete all assigned academic modules through APEX, Power DMS etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Position requires incumbent to carry and potentially use firearm.
  • Requires a working knowledge of Arizona State Laws, Public Relations and Investigative techniques.
  • Must have ability to write legible, concise, and comprehensive security reports using correct grammar and spelling.
  • Requires skill to exercise tact, understanding, self-restraint, judgment, and confidentiality in dealing with people.
  • Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
  • Must maintain a fitness level required to perform all duties including response to emergencies, navigating multiple levels of staircase, physically controlling violent individuals and completing all physical components of training requirements.
