Department: Nursing Staffing Office

Schedule: Per Diem 12 Hours Per Week

Shifts: Nights

As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Staffing Office Specialist plays a key role in ensuring patients receive exceptional care by coordinating the daily staffing of nursing personnel. Under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, this position strategically allocates in-house resources - including Valleywise Health staff, Float Pool nurses, agency per-diem professionals, and travelers - to meet real-time staffing needs. By analyzing schedules, verifying availability, and collaborating with unit leaders, the Specialist helps maintain safe, efficient staffing levels across the facility. Beyond scheduling, the role includes managing calls, preparing reports, maintaining accurate records, and upholding the confidentiality of sensitive staffing data. This dynamic position blends organization, communication, and critical thinking to support seamless healthcare delivery.
 
Flat Rate: $23.65
This is a POOL position.
 
Qualifications
Education:
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
Experience:
  • Prefer one (1) year experience in a Staffing Office or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Effective organizational skills are required to adapt to an ever-changing environment, establish priorities while working under time constraints, and coordinate a variety of projects.
  • Requires critical thinking skills to balance needs with available resources.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills; can read, write, and speak English effectively.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competencies in various computer applications, including MS Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment.
  • The ability to make basic mathematical computations and use a calculator and keyboard skills are required.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are required to collaborate with all levels of staff.
